LaTonya Burnett
About Me
Hi! I'm LaTonya Burnett, and I currently serve as the Dean of Student Culture at Harmony School of Innovation-Houston, a middle school serving grades 6-8. In this role, which functions similarly to an Assistant Principal, I focus on creating a positive school environment where all students can thrive.
My educational journey includes a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Psychology, and I'm currently pursuing a Master's in Educational Leadership at Northern American University. I also plan to resume my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology soon, as understanding the human experience and contributing to mental health and education has always been a passion of mine.
Throughout my career in education, I've worn many hats. I've worked in Special Education, taught Reading and Math intervention, and served as a Writing and ELA teacher for 7th and 8th graders. I've also had experience teaching Texas History, Science, and Health. Before becoming a Dean, I worked as a 3-5 ELA Instructional Coach, where I supported teachers and helped develop curriculum.
Outside of work, I enjoy reading, listening to music, and engaging in deep, stimulating conversations. What drives me most is my passion for making a positive impact on every child I encounter - whether through social-emotional learning, academics, or character development. I believe in nurturing the whole child and creating learning environments where students can grow in all areas of their lives.
